I built this because finding out what is on in the Kootenays takes eleven browser tabs. Every town has a calendar, every venue has a Facebook page, every tourism board has a list that stops at the town line, and none of them talk to each other. So a Friday afternoon question with an obvious answer takes twenty minutes, and half the time the answer is out of date. This is that question, answered on one wall, in the order a person actually thinks about it: what is on tonight, then this weekend, then the rest.

Two things on every poster are things nobody else in the region carries. Who it is for, so a parent can tell in one glance whether they can bring a seven-year-old. And what it costs, with free said as a word rather than left as a blank. Neither is guessed. If the source did not say, the poster does not say, and I would rather have a shorter wall than a wall that sends somebody to the wrong place.

The order of the wall is time. Nothing else moves a poster up or down it, and the rules say so in full.

It is kept by me, Brett Faucher, in Castlegar, under Kootenay Made Digital, which also runs the Kootenay List. Right now 35 boards have a poster on the wall, and the wall holds 967 events. What I want from you

If you run events, this is the whole arrangement, and it is short.

Every poster links back to you, with an ordinary link that search engines follow. The facts go on the wall, the words stay yours, and the page sends people to your page for them. The calendar file on your room’s page is yours to take, and putting it on your own site saves us both the chasing. If you want something off this wall, say so and it comes off.
